POETS PLACE

Poets Place marks a tribute to Rabbie Burns and the Big Burns Supper, highlighting the roots of his work and the ongoing tradition of the festival.

The Burns Statue will feature a sound display showcasing a collection of his works, inviting visitors to experience works written and inspired by his hometown.

As the statue lights up you can enjoy verses of his work, like ‘Red Red Rose’, to ‘A Man’s a Man’ and all that! The installation will also honour those inspired by Burns who have kept his legacy alive over the course of Big Burns Supper festivals over the years.

We couldn’t reimagine Big Burns Supper and bring the town to life without also rethinking the Burns statue.

Poets’ Place brings the statue to life using light, sound and some of Burns’ best-known songs and poems. The piece is a recording of Green Grow the Rashes which is arranged by Gary Cameron.

These sounds act as shared memories, drifting through the space. This installation celebrates Robert Burns, but also the many people who have helped sustain his legacy and make Big Burns Supper possible over the years.
