BIRDS ON A WIRE
Nature reclaims the commercial centre of Dumfries High Street as these adorable birds take flight on the windows of the Supper Club.
Using projection technology and a soundscape of chorus and bird song, several birds will take flight onto the front of our windows in a constant loop.
Audiences will be able to interact with the display by dialing a number to listen to the bird songs of the birds that make their way to Dumfries every year.
You will be able to guess the bird song and submit them as part of our trail.
Music composed by Gary Cameron and Dumfries Community Choir.
Birds on a Wire is a collaboration between Dumfries Community Choir and artist Bera Nura. All of the birds featured on the telephone wire are species that can be found in the local area.
Over a six-month period, artist Gary Cameron worked with the choir to layer different sounds and vocal imitations of birdsong. The finished piece is presented in a shopfront window, bringing together sound, image and community voices.
If you look closely, you may be able to spot all six bird species used in the piece. You can also listen to the sounds again online to see if you can recognise them, with answers provided beneath the audio link.
